Learning Corner: The Energy Audit
Estimated Time to Complete: 20 minutes
Objective:
To map where your energy goes during a typical week and make one practical change to protect it.
Materials Needed:
Last week's calendar
Two colors of highlighter
Activity Steps:
1. Review your week (5 minutes)
Look at each meeting and block of work from last week.
2. Color code it (5 minutes)
Highlight activities that gave you energy in one color and those that drained you in another.
3. Look for patterns (5 minutes)
What do the energizing activities have in common? What about the draining ones? Notice times of day, people or types of work.
4. Make one change (5 minutes)
Choose one change for next week: add a short break after a draining meeting, move an energizing task to a low point in the day, or hand off one draining task.
Key Takeaways:
Energy is a resource worth managing, just like time.
Patterns show up when you look at a whole week.
Small changes in your schedule can make a big difference in how you feel.
Reflection Prompt:
What is one thing that gives you energy at work that you've been doing less of lately?
