Learning Corner: Unleashing Your Leadership

Estimated Time: 20–30 minutes

Objective:

To help participants identify the barriers that limit their leadership and practice unleashing their potential in real-world situations.

Materials Needed:

  • Pen and notebook (or digital note-taking tool)

  • A quiet space for reflection

Activity Steps:

1. Reflect on a Recent Challenge
Think of a situation in your personal or professional life where you felt constrained as a leader. Write it down.

2. Identify Barriers
Ask yourself: What barriers—internal or external—kept me from leading fully in that situation? List them.

3. Focus on Your Sphere of Control
Divide a page into two columns:

  • What I Can Control – actions, mindset, choices

  • What I Cannot Control – circumstances, other people’s reactions, outcomes

4. Reframe Your Response
For each item in the “can control” column, brainstorm how you could act differently next time. Consider ways to lead with empathy, clarity, and courage.

5. Commit to Action
Choose one or two actions from your list that you will implement in your next leadership opportunity. Write them as clear, actionable statements.

6. Share & Discuss
If in a group, share your reflections and action steps. Discuss how unleashing leadership rather than trying to “be perfect” can transform outcomes and team dynamics.

Key Takeaways:

  • Leadership is revealed, not manufactured.

  • Focus on what you can influence, not what you cannot.

  • Courage, empathy, and alignment with values drive real impact.
